CWU Wildcats Join the Movement

On Friday, October 7, Central Washington University students danced their way to $4,025.00, showing that the Wildcats are fiercely #ForTheKids. The students joined a movement of more than 200,000 student dancers across the country by hosting the university’s first Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® Dance Marathon.

CWU Dance Marathon was led by students Dallas Murrey, Karli Ballinger, Rachel Davey, Liz Faringer, Mckenzie Merrill, Ali Quy, Erin Rautenberg, Chance Stubblefield, and Katie Watson. The University’s mascot, Wellington, showed up to bust a move and was joined on the dance floor by CWU’s cheer squad, dance team, and women’s soccer team. The 127 participants danced for five hours to promote the message that they were dancing for those kids who can’t.

The funds raised will benefit pediatric patients at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, Central Washington’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Thank you to the sponsors of the event: Roy Farms, Pizza Colin, Coca-Cola Bottling of Yakima, and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Yakima.

Dance Marathon was founded in 1991 at Indiana University and has raised more than $135 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® across the United States. We are excited that Central Washington University has joined the movement to promote awareness and provide help for kids with special healthcare needs throughout Central Washington. Go Wildcats!
