Celebrating our 2021 Champion RHYS!

We are excited to introduce you to Rhys, the 2021 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion representing Yakima Valley Memorial!  One cannot help but smile when they are around Rhys – his joy for life is contagious!  He was diagnosed with a rare brain malformation called Schizencephaly at 1 year old, cerebral palsy at 3 and now at almost 7, he has developed epilepsy.  Their family wold not have able move home to Yakima from Seattle without Children’s Village and Children Miracle Network to meet his specialized needs.  Through Children’s Village, Rhys utilizes physical, occupational and speech therapies.  Currently he is working on balance in order to learn to walk and using his left arm equally to the right.

His mom Erin shares with us, “We are working with a speech therapist to get him a device in order to communicate as well. His favorite words right now are “go”, “nope” and “keys”. He’s curious by nature which we know will help him to make strides through his life. With the support we receive through Children’s Village, we know Rhys will live up to his full potential and we are so proud of him. Rhys is sheer joy and happiness radiates out of him wherever he goes. His favorite toys are cars, jeeps, trucks and motorcycles. He loves to watch Blippi and eat ice cream and fresh berries. This boy is funny, smart, loving and compassionate.  One of his best skills is that he easily makes friends and loves to make people laugh.”

In Yakima, we are thrilled to be able to celebrate this young warrior, Rhys, as our 2021 CMN Champion!  To learn more about CMN at Yakima Valley Memorial or to make a donation to support, please go to, https://yakimamemorial.childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org .
